Lookout tower - Vápnik monument
This memorial place is located 4 km from the town of Levice (direction Mýtne Ludany) on the hill Vápnik (274 m above sea level), where in the past was the observatory of Marshal Malinovsky, Commander II. Ukrainian front, which led from this place military operations in the southern Pohronie from December 20 to March 25, 1945. There is a concrete monument with a lookout tower.
Hill Vápnik / Šiklóš / is a popular excursion place for Levičany as well as for the inhabitants of the wider area. With its height of 274 m.n m. provides beautiful views of the town of Levice, the Štiavnica Mountains, the Hron River with the surrounding villages, the Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant and to the south the Borzsony Mountains, already in Hungary.
